VDMS has revamped its scholarship policy into a new standardized and more transparent system, with basic grants depending on the profile and circumstances of the individual student: the level of the education, and extra costs during a semester of graduation.
Students and intermediary organizations have to meet certain criteria (See Selftest). The emphasis is on talent and motivation.
Criteria
Student, eligible for a scholarship:
- Financially disadvantaged
- Talented (IP > 3.0)
- Highly motivated
- Preferably women
Education
- The studies have to be followed at an accredited educational institution.
- Level starts at SMK or SMA and runs higher (D3, D4, S1, and S2).
Duration of support
- A student meeting the criteria will be supported during an uninterrupyed period, unless he or she underperforms.
- Support starts from the 2nd year for all levels, except SMA, which is restricted to the final year.
- D3 is supported from 2nd - 3rd years, D4 from 2nd - 4th years, S1 from 2nd - 4th years, S2 in 2nd year.
- Support is given within this range and ends after the student's graduation.
Proposal
- Scholarships are mainly furnished through intermediary organizations. One must address individual requests to an intermediate organisation, whereby it becomes a part of a collective request.
- The intermediary organization selects and proposes students that meet the criteria and it bears responsibility for the proper administration, control of results and coaching and motivating of ‘their’ students.
- A request for scholarships will include a short explanation ('Quick Proposal') and the input of the proposed students' data in the internet administration system (see below).
Administration
- Administration will be carried out via an internet based administration system.
- The scholarships will be reported on continuously through that administration system.
