The change of policy in 2005 to transform VDMS into a professional organization resulted in the development of capacity building activities.
The objective of capacity building is to improve the skills of students, staff and management of cooperative organizations (partners).
In 2006 and 2007 VDMS organized:
- A brainstorm session on 'Innovative Ways to Teach and Learn English in Indonesia' in Manado
- A workshop on project management for project managers of cooperative organizations in Bandung
- Two ‘leadership conferences’ for students receiving scholarships from VDMS in Salatiga
- A workshop for staff of technical schools to learn about (financial) management and to exchange know-how in Bandung
- A workshop for principals and staff of schools on financial management and administration of schools in Ende
- Training of teachers in interactive teaching in Flores
- A workshop for staff of two agricultural schools to learn 'how to start a business' in Salatiga
In 2008 we organized:
- Two workshops to introduce our new internet scholarship administration system (SAS)
- Two 'leadership conferences' in Prigen and Kupang
- Training of teachers in interactive teaching in Flores
- A workshop for alumni of VDMS to learn 'how to start a business' in Malang
- A 'train the trainers' program for lecturers of universities in Malang
- Regional meetings for VDMS students in Padang and Jogyakarta
- A workshop for representatives of new partners to introduce the SAS in Jogya
- Two 'leadership conferences' in Puntondo and Tlogo
- A workshop for alumni of VDMS to learn 'how to start a business' in Malang
- A meeting of representatives of partners in Bali
- A kick off meeting for an Alumni Association in Surabaya
- Regional meetings for VDMS students in Surabaya and in Manado
- A 'how to start a business' workshop in Malang
- Two 'leadership conferences' in Bogor and Trawas
- A panel meeting called 'Gardenia' group in Jakarta
- Regional meetings for VDMS students in Bandung, Kupang and Ambon
- A 'how to start a business' workshop in Malang, to be the first example of blended learning
